Appalachian Dancers
Displays of percussive step dancing and music from the traditions of the Appalachian Mountains
When the early settlers from the British Isles arrived in the southern Appalachian Mountains of America, they brought with them their music and step dancing. Very soon these old dance styles and music became influenced by other cultures, most notably that of the African-Americans. What emerged was an exciting style of music and dance with great drive and rhythm.
